ADF reaches new levels with the Afghan Officer Academy (0.57 mins)
The Australian mission to mentor Afghan Army Officer Cadets and support the Afghan National Army Officer Academy (ANAOA), has reached a high level of maturity, well ahead of its 2023 deadline. By late 2019, ANAOA will have produced 4885 graduates, of whom 282 are women. Australian Army members are now focusing their energy at the institutional level, advising the Chief of Staff and the Logistics Department. The ADF mission at ANAOA is to develop Afghan Army combat leaders who can command and manage a platoon of soldiers and prepare them for the rigours of military operations. Australia’s role with the Academy is part of our contribution to the NATO-led Resolute Support mission. Around 300 ADF personnel are deployed to Afghanistan under Operation Highroad.
