Operation Render Safe 2019 starts with a disaster relief forum (0.43 mins)

The Australian Defence Force and National Disaster Management Office (NDMO) took part in a Table Top Exercise in Honiara, Solomon Islands, to further develop the NDMO’s Standard Operating Procedures when reacting to natural disasters. The exercise was held from 23 – 25 OCT, just as HMAS Adelaide arrived for Operation Render Safe 2019. Upon Adelaide’s arrival, NDMO participants toured the amphibious ship to get a sense of the Australian Defence Force’s Humanitarian Aid and Disaster Relief capabilities. Operation Render Safe 2019 is a joint Australian and New Zealand Defence Force effort working with the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force, disposing of unexploded and abandoned Second World War explosives. The ship is supporting personnel as they undertake clearance and disposal activities around Vella Lavella Island, Ghizo, Kolombangara Island, Vonavona Island and north-west New Georgia Island.
