Visiting ADFA – Tours and Events

Tours of the Australian Defence Force Academy

Organised Group Tours of the Academy facilities are conducted on Wednesdays between 0900 hrs to 1200 hrs and 1300 hrs to 1600 hrs. Booking requests should be submitted to adfa.visitsrequests@defence.gov.au – requests will only be actioned and confirmed in the year in which the tour is being conducted. Tours are currently on hold until the threat from COVID-19 recedes.

22 February 2020 – Chief of the Defence Force Parade

The 2020 Chief of the Defence Force Parade will be held at the Australian Defence Force Academy (ADFA) on Saturday 22 February 2020, commencing at 4.15 pm.

The Chief of the Defence Force Parade marks the completion of initial military training by Year One Midshipmen and Officer Cadets and is a significant milestone in their progress into the Australian Defence Force.

The Academy welcomes all guests to this important event, and hope that the following information will assist you in planning your attendance. For those unable to attend, the parade will be live-streamed on the ADFA Facebook Page.

22 August 2020 – ADFA Open Day

This is a chance for potential ADFA candidates, Defence families and members of the community to learn more about the lifestyle, military training and tertiary education on offer at the Academy. There is also a range of military displays by the Navy, Army and Air Force to give you a snapshot of some of the careers available to you in the ADF.

Thousands of people attended the 2019 ADFA Open Day and enjoyed the RAAF solo Roulette display, Police military working dogs display, and a simulated ground based infantry attack by ADFA Midshipmen and Officer Cadets. Army vehicle displays, Army Parachute Display Team, Navy helicopters and much more. ADFA’s Midshipmen and Officer Cadets ran stalls, selling food and interacted with families and potential candidates to provide them with insight into life at ADFA.

ADFA Open Day will be hosted online this year due to COVID-19. No physical events or displays will be offered and members of the public are requested to avoid the facility for the safety of ADFA staff and students and the wider community. 10 December 2020 – ADFA Graduation Parade

The 2020 Graduation Parade will be held at the Australian Defence Force Academy (ADFA) on Thursday 10 December 2020, commencing at 9.30am.

The Graduation Parade is a significant milestone in the careers of the graduating midshipmen and officer cadets, marking the culmination of three years of military and academic studies at ADFA. The parade incorporates the presentation of awards and is one of the largest ceremonial events conducted annually in Australia, with the Governor-General of the Commonwealth of Australia as the Reviewing Officer.

The Academy welcomes all guests to this important event, and hope the available information will assist with planning. For those unable to attend, the parade will be live-streamed on the ADFA Facebook Page
