Advanced Marksmanship Training
Advanced Marksmanship Training (1.8 mins)
Australian Army trainers from Task Group Taji-7 have trained over 300 Iraqi Army soldiers in advanced marksmanship during a six month deployment to Iraq. The courses are designed for the best performing shooters in each Iraqi Army Brigade and start with the basics, including safe weapon handling and scope familiarisation, before teaching them how to engage targets at up to 800 metres. The Task Group has also conducted train-the-trainer courses to bolster the Iraqi Army’s ability to train its own soldiers. Task Group Taji is a combined Australian-New Zealand training unit of around 400 personnel and is in Iraq to train elements of the Iraqi Security Forces to ensure they are well postured to secure and stabilise areas cleared of Daesh.
